Testing The Waters

I was recently interviewed by talented Radio host LaFern Cusack for Radio Disney AM 1110. In this interview I give my tips on how to provide a home for a puppy... so if you are looking to add a furry baby to your family here are some things you need to consider. I've always subscribed to the notion that we are each here for one reason... "to live OUR lives."  This goal sounds simple enough but sadly many people are not living their lives. Many are living the lives their families want them to live, the lives society deems "correct"-- afraid to step out of the box and listen to their soul's cry for expression. Everyone has a purpose and in order to live our life's purpose we each have to courageously step forward, put one foot in front of the other and allow our individual path to reveal itself to us.  FIND WHAT INTERESTS YOU There are many occupations in this great, big, beautiful world of ours -- as  Confucius  said "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." I can say from personal experience there is no profession  more challenging (and at the same time rewarding) than that of being an artist. "A Life, Taken" is inspired by my personal experience with sexual abuse. Before writing this story I never spoke about what happened to me as a child. Sitting down to write my story wasn't a conscious choice it was more like I was led to do so by a force greater than myself. I had no idea the effect it would have on me and my life. I can still remember the day I finished the first draft (over year ago), somehow I felt lighter, like a w eight had b e en lift ed. I know now that by writing my story and getting it out I had dropped the heavy weight of shame I had been clinging to all these years. My silence insured that I held tightly to this shame as if it were some kind of life preserver instead of what it really was - a 10 ton weight. I chose to stay quiet and not speak about what happened to me. I thought this would make it "go away".  Boy was I wrong.   This is like putting a bag of garbage in a closet in the ho...

With 2012 fast approaching I find myself looking back on 2011. What an incredible year.  I closed it by booking my first Network Gig.  Its a really fun role on "SOUTHLAND" (The episode is called "Identity' and it airs Feb. 7, 2012 on TNT) You really know you've made it when you have your own trailer with your name on the door (Yes, it was written on masking tape and I gotta say... I was so excited to see it) Okay... so I was a bit scared of my wardrobe (yikes - it was 40 degrees outside people) but having my own personal space did help assuage my fear of the cold... I booked and shot "LYLA WOLF: Infractus"   Its an Action/Adventure/Sci Fi short - in it I play Mariela, a woman who was raped and has a split from reality. Working with everyone on this production was incredibly inspiring. I went to a screening  and The final film looks amazing - it will be hitting the festival circuit soon... I booked my first musical - YES...
